Are You Up to Speed? The Art of Conversation

“Every conversation is an opportunity for success.” ~ Debra Fine

Mark your calendar for this year’s PSS conference, “Are You Up to Speed?” The conference theme is improving the quality of the personal and professional lives of UB employees. Our keynote speaker, Debra Fine is a bestselling author, nationally recognized speaker and trainer. The day will conclude with a boat ride around Grand Island on the Grand Lady. Registration fee includes the Grad Lady Boat Ride. Discounts are not available for choosing to opt out of the boat ride.

PSS Plant Exchange Luncheon on Tuesday, June 12, 2012

Come to the 3rd annual PSS Plant Exchange. This year the exchange will take place in 210 Student Union from 12:00 to 1:00 on June 12. Bring a plant, get a plant while enjoying lunch which includes a selection of wraps, pasta salad, and desserts from The Gourmet Store.

PSS Pot Luck BBQ Luncheon on Wednesday June 27, 2012

This year’s PSS Pot Luck BBQ Luncheon will be held on June 27 starting at noon. Bring a dish to pass and join us outside the Student Union as we enjoy the summer and the tasty treats from others. Register by sending email to pssenate@buffalo.edu with the dish you plan on bringing. More details.

UB's Child Protection Policy: What You Should Know. May 22, 23 & 30th 2012

President Tripathi recently signed UB's Child Protection Policy, in support of UB's commitment to protect the safety and welfare of children on campus. While most University programs and activities are intended for individuals of legal adult age, UB sponsors many programs for children, including childcare, sports camps and academic enrichment activities. Members of the UB community also may work with children as part of their work or academic obligations. These programs and activities carry increased obligations to safeguard children on campus. Please join us for an information session on the Child Protection Policy.

Covered topics include:

• The obligations of employees, students and visitors under the policy;

• What to do if you witness or suspect abuse or inappropriate conduct toward a child;

• How the policy relates to programs and research involving children; and

• Employee obligations when granting campus access to visitors.

There will be a question and answer session.
