    Announcements and Events

3rd Annual Sweetly Celebrating the End of Summer

    Friday, August 12
    12:00-1:30 PM
    Capen 107, Honors College

Looking for an escape from the endless barrage of political banter? Feel as though summer is already vanishing before your eyes? Tired of staring blankly at your monitor while eating stale leftovers? If so, this is your chance to step away from your desk and make “real-time” connections with fellow professional staff members and faculty and enjoy some delicious treats. You’re welcome to bring your favorite treat to share with colleagues as we celebrate the waning days of summer and the approach of another school year.

What type of treats, you ask? We don’t discriminate and we define “desserts” very liberally. Homemade or store-bought, chocolate over-indulgence or wholesome fruit, gluten-free or gluten-heavy, kosher, halal, dairy-free, peanut-free, or vegan. Water and iced tea will be available and attendees are welcome to bring lunches.

Please RSVP by August 9 and indicate if you will bring a dessert to share. Desserts are optional…but everyone is welcome!

    Wednesday, July 27
    2:30-4:00 PM
    Spaulding Parking lot, North Campus

The PSS Sustainable Living Committee and Parking and Transportation Services are thrilled to invite you to the second UB Bull Ride! What’s a Bull Ride? It’s a group bicycle ride for all of UB to attend. All UB students, faculty and staff are encouraged to meet in the Spaulding Lot across from the basketball courts at 2:30pm to register.  After you register practice securing your bicycle to a UB Stampede Bus, meet other cyclists and show off your bicycle! The ride will begin at 3pm sharp. The weather report looks great for next week- hot and sunny! Please join us for a casual ride at the end of your work day on the Ellicott Creek Trailway and student neighborhoods!
As a valued member of the UB community, we would love to have you along for the ride. It’s free, fun and a great way to meet other University members that love riding their bike as much as you do! So tell your friends and colleagues about this extraordinary (and FREE) opportunity provided by the PSS Sustainable Living Committee and Parking and Transportation Services!
If you have any questions regarding UB’s first ever Bull Ride, please feel free to contact Matthew Reitmeier (mcreitme@buffalo.edu or 645-3943). We hope to see you there!!!

    Staff Recognition Initiative

The Office of the Professional Staff Senate would like to introduce to you a new Staff Recognition initiative. During the monthly PSS Senate/General Membership meetings, we will recognize a UB professional staff member who has achieved a notable accomplishment. It is our aim to highlight and celebrate some of the amazing work that UB staff are involved in on and around campus. If you are a supervisor, colleague or friend of a UB professional staff member that you would like the PSS to recognize for their achievements, please consider submitting a nomination on their behalf.

Nominations may be submitted at any time. Please submit your nominations to Domenic Licata, PSS chair by including the following information:

    • Name of Nominee
    • Title
    • Contact Information
    • Qualifications: Why you feel this staff person should be recognized by the PSS

Please note that, if selected, this person will be recognized at an upcoming PSS Senate/General Membership meeting. You may be asked to offer a brief introduction of the selected staff member to attendees at this meeting. The recognized staff will receive a certificate, small gift and their picture may be featured on the PSS website. We will continue to recognize a new staff member each month. Nominations will be collected throughout the duration of the academic year.

Congratulations to our first award recipient, Lani Jendrowski, EOP Senior Counselor, who was recognized at our October 2015 PSS General Membership/Senate meeting for her continued work and dedication to our foster care student population!
