Annual PSS Inclusion & Diversity Committee End-of-Semester Potluck Extravaganza!
Wed., Dec. 9 • 12 to 1:30 p.m. • 210 Student Union
This is a wonderful opportunity to step away from the computer and enjoy good food and conversation with colleagues from across campus. Don’t feel like cooking? No problem, pick up a dish at the local market. Don’t feel like picking up a dish at the local market? Still no problem. This event is open to all UB staff members, with or without food. Of course, we would love some of that home cooking.
New this year! PSS will be providing special shuttle service from several points on South Campus at approximately 11:30am (depending on the number of hungry participants). Riders will be dropped off at the Student Union by 12:00pm. The shuttle will return participants, now stuffed with home cooking, to South Campus at 1 p.m. and again at 1:30 p.m.
Staff Recognition Initiative
The Office of the Professional Staff Senate would like to introduce to you a new Staff Recognition initiative. During the monthly PSS Senate/General Membership meetings, we will recognize a UB professional staff member who has achieved a notable accomplishment. It is our aim to highlight and celebrate some of the amazing work that UB staff are involved in on and around campus. If you are a supervisor, colleague or friend of a UB professional staff member that you would like the PSS to recognize for their achievements, please consider submitting a nomination on their behalf.
- Name of Nominee
- Contact Information
- Qualifications: Why you feel this staff person should be recognized by the PSS
Please note that, if selected, this person will be recognized at an upcoming PSS Senate/General Membership meeting. You may be asked to offer a brief introduction of the selected staff member to attendees at this meeting. The recognized staff will receive a certificate, small gift and their picture may be featured on the PSS website. We will continue to recognize a new staff member each month. Nominations will be collected throughout the duration of the academic year.
Congratulations to our first award recipient, Lani Jendrowski, EOP Senior Counselor, who was recognized at our October 2015 PSS General Membership/Senate meeting for her continued work and dedication to our foster care student population!
Holidays can be Greener
The PSS Sustainability Committee is offering recommendations to promote sustainability (PDF) as you prepare for your Thanksgiving dinner and the upcoming holidays.
NYS-Ride Transit Pass Program
UB faculty and staff may be eligible to take part in NYS-Ride, a program that allows state employees to pay for certain work-related transportation expenses — including mass transit — on a pre-tax basis.
NYS-Ride allows employees to save money by purchasing their transit passes — including NFTA passes serving all Metro bus and Metro Rail lines in Erie and Niagara counties — through pre-tax payroll deductions.
You can determine your eligibility and sign up for the program at the NYS-Ride website.
