Frito Fighters win Biggest Loser Contest

The State University of New York at Buffalo’s Move It to Lose It contest is a weight-loss challenge based on the popular NBC show, "The Biggest Loser." The contest is administered on campus through the cooperation of Wellness & Work/Life Balance, University Human Resources, the School of Public Health & Health Professions and the Division of Athletics. All employees are eligible to compete and fifteen teams of two are chosen from all eligible applications. These teams work closely with dietetic interns and student mentors from the School of Public Health and Health Professions to develop a diet and exercise program. Our competitors are also given free access to the University’s gym facilities for the duration of the contest.

Our second Move It to Lose It contest began on September 19, 2008 and lasted for eight weeks. During this time frame, participants weighed in weekly. Each week, the leader was determined by each team’s total percentage of weight loss. Our grand prize winners of two flat panel televisions, sponsored by Tim Hortons, are the Frito Fighters: Lani Jendrowski and Manuel Wong.

Both Lani and Manny work in the Educational Opportunity Center in Norton Hall on UB’s North Campus. You can learn more about the program on-line at www.hr.buffalo.edu/movetolose.
